The Daviess County Commissioners met Tuesday morning and approved a change of leadership at the Daviess County Airport. Airport manager Chris Rhodes submitted his resignition effective September 30. At the recommendation of the Airport Board, the commissioners approved the hiring of Aaron Bannam as the new Airport Manager. The Commissioners also heard from Daviess County Clerk, Janice Williams. Williams presented the list of polling places to be used for the General Election in November. Williams said that polling places remained the same as in the last election.
In other business, the commissioners approved a request from Midwest Gas to place gas lines on a platted, but developed public alley in Raglesville. There is no evidence the alley was ever officially vacated, so it remains a public right of way. At the request of Kelly Streeter and Dr. Holzapple, the Commissioners agreed to combine two current health department positions into one full-time administrative position. The Commissioners also heard from Indiana’s Office of Community and Rural Affairs Executive Director Denny Spinner, who congratulated the County for being part of the Hoosier Enduring Legacy Program. Spinner also introduced Amber Warden, who will be the community coordinator. Daviess County will be partnering with the City of Washington, the City of Vincennes, Dubois County, and the City of Jasper. The commissioners also announced they are receiving bids for asphalt. The bids are due by October 11.
