Wanted Man Flees Police on Lawn Mower in Sullivan Co.

A wanted Terre Haute man tried to flee police on a lawn mower Sunday.
The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office says that at around 1:20 pm, a deputy was traveling on CR 300 West when he passed by a male, he believed to be 49-year-old James Shipman of Terre Haute.
Shipman was operating a zero-turn mower at the residence.
The deputy returned to the residence believing Shipman was wanted on a warrant.
Shipman, still on the mower, began to flee, traveling nearly a half mile through a field before being apprehended.
Shipman was later secured in the Sullivan County Jail on warrants from Sullivan County and Crawford County, Illinois.
