Grant Awarded to Hatchet Ratchex Robotics Program

Our Community Foundation has awarded a grant to Washington Community Schools for the Junior High’s Hatchet Ratchex Robotics Program.
The grant will help purchase a laptop for students to program robots.
The Hatchet Ratchex is an afterschool program that was started at Washington Junior High last fall.
Students create robots and then compete in various competitions with other schools all over the state.
The Foundation says they know that expanding STEM education is critical to Daviess County’s future.
Executive Director of the Foundation, Mary Smith, says the board recognizes that workforce needs can and will be met by those who have STEM skills.
The grant was awarded through the Foundation’s mini grant program.
