Reds pitcher Hunter Greene gave up a bunt single to the first hitter of the game on Monday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The right hander proceeded to face the minimum number of hitters over the next two hours and 13 minutes as the Reds defeated Arizona 7-0 in a rain-shortened, seven inning affair. At the dish, Tyler Stephenson and Kyle Farmer each drove in a pair of runs and the Reds’ bats hit .400 with runners in scoring position. Today, Reds rookie pitcher Graham Ashcraft will start on the mound. The 24-year-old made his MLB debut just weeks ago and has a 2-0 record with a 1.53 ERA across 17.2 innings.
The Indiana Pacers held their fourth pre-draft workout Monday just over two weeks away from the 2022 NBA Draft. With the 6th, 31st and 58th picks in the upcoming draft, the Pacers have hosted a wide range of draft prospects from players expected to go in the lottery to players on the fringes of the second round. The six-prospect group on Monday featured one-and-done players and college veterans alike. High recruiting prospects Max Christie from Michigan State and Peyton Watson from UCLA headlined the young players with lots of potential. Christie, the versatile wing with a smooth jump shot, averaged 9.3 points per game as freshman. On the other end of the spectrum, five-year college players Teddy Allen and Michael Flowers were also in attendance as well as former Duke and Creighton player Alex O’Connell. Terrell Brown Jr., All-Pac 12 player and godson of NBA champion Jason Terry, completed the group at the St. Vincent Center on Monday.
The Indianapolis Colts begin a mandatory minicamp today running through June 9. After two weeks of OTA’s Tuesday’s team activities will be the first session requiring participation from everyone on the roster. That includes 2021 pro bowler and cornerback Kenny Moore II. Moore missed the first two weeks of OTA’s because he is unhappy with his current contract and desires one that reflects his on-field performance the last two seasons. The 26-year-old has picked off eight passes over the last two seasons playing in over 90% of the team’s snaps. While it is still unclear if Moore will participate in the minicamp, he was reportedly in the Colts facility on Monday to take his physical before the week begins. Under the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement, Moore will be subject to fines if he doesn’t participate on Tuesday. The three day minicamp will be followed by one more week of OTA’s before the blue and white depart for the summer and return for training camp for the 2022 NFL season.
