A man from Jasper faces over half a dozen charges following a domestic battery incident.
Jasper Police report they were called to a residence around 10:00 am yesterday morning after getting a call about a fight involving a knife. Officers arrived on scene and later determined that 23-year-old Ruben Morales Cruz had allegedly battered his domestic partner.
Police say Cruz choked the victim and held a knife to the victim’s throat. Police say Cruz also struck the victim in the face. The victim sustained injuries but declined EMS. The investigation also revealed Cruz allegedly took the victim’s phone preventing a 911 call.
In addition, police discovered there was an active protection order against Cruz. Cruz was arrested on scene and booked into the Dubois County Jail. He is charged with Domestic Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Domestic Battery Resulting in Moderate Bodily Injury, Domestic Battery with a Prior Conviction, Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon, Strangulation, Invasion of Privacy, and Interference with the Reporting of a Crime.
