Make up dates for Washington games have been set.  The Washington girls game at Pike Central will now be played on Monday, January 17.  The Washington Boys game at North Knox will be played Tuesday, Feb 8th. And the Washington Boys game at home with Heritage Hills will be played Tuesday, Feb 15th.

Barr Reeve fell Saturday night on the road at Castle 61-52. The Vikings go to 7-6 on the season and will play at the Bird Cage Tuesday against Washington Catholic in a boys / girls doubleheader.

North Daviess grabbed an exciting win over Evansville Christian in overtime 56-50.

Washington Catholic lost to Eastern Greene 69-38.  While Shoals fell to White River Valley 38-35 at the Greene County Invitational. The night games at the tournament were postponed due to weather and will be played tonight.

Jasper lost 55-44 to Evansville North.

Bedford edged out South Knox by a point 34-33.

Vincennes Lincoln fell to Bosse 87-51.

The North Knox game with Sullivan was postponed.

Pike Central faces North Central at 6pm tonight in the Greene County Invitational.  Shakamak plays Linton for the championship in game two.

The Washington Hatchets 5th grade improved to 7-3 Saturday with 2 wins over Jasper.  27 – 26 and 24 – 23. The first game was led by Dylan Stowers and Drew Clawson with 16 and 11 points.  The second game Drew Clawson scored 9, Dylan Stowers 5, Hunter Newland 4, Noah Rhoads, Armani Sandoval and Jax Rodriguez each scoring 2.  The Hatchets 5th grade play next at Griffith versus Pike Central tonight

Girls basketball yesterday:

Washington grabbed a big win at home over Princeton 61-36. Jesse Ledgerwood had 24 points to lead the Hatchets.

North Daviess lost to Shakamak 31-20.

Barr Reeve girls fell to Rivet 50-19.

Pike Central lost to Forest Park 68-34.

Jasper fell to Mater Dei 47-43.

North Knox beat South Knox 45-37.

Bloomfield topped Loogootee 44-18.

The Washington Junior High 7th grade Lady Hatchets ( 10-1 ) got off to a good start closed out a 32-19 win over Vincennes Rivet on Saturday.  Leading scorers for the game were Norah McMurray with 10 points and London Gilley 8 pts and Addy Williams with 7 pts. 
 
The 8th grade Lady Hatchets ( 10-2 ) grabbed a 35-11 Win.  Both teams travel to Barr Reeve  tonight.

The college football world has its eyes on Indianapolis for Monday night’s National Championship game between Alabama and Georgia at Lucas Oil Stadium. Both SEC powers are 13-1 after dominating their respective semifinal game. Georgia beat Michigan 34-11 in the Orange Bowl, while Alabama defeated Cincinnati 27-6 at the Cotton Bowl. Alabama has won six national titles since 2009 under coach Nick Saban, while Georgia is looking for its first championship since 1980. The Crimson Tide beat the Bulldogs 41-24 in the SEC Championship game, but Georgia is favored by 2.5 points in the rematch. The College Football Playoff National Championship kicks off from Lucas Oil Stadium at 8 p.m. Eastern.

Five Indiana players scored in double figures, and the Hoosiers defeated Minnesota 73-60 Sunday afternoon in Bloomington. Xavier Johnson led IU with 14 points, while Trayce Jackson-Davis had 13 points and 12 rebounds. The Hoosiers used a 17-4 run to end the first half and take a 10-point lead into the break. Minnesota re-took the lead near the midway point of the second half, but Indiana went on a 10-0 run and held the Golden Gophers scoreless for over six minutes to secure the victory. Rob Phinisee had 12 points off the bench in the first half and finished with 13. Parker Stewart added 12 points, and Minnesota native Race Thompson chipped in 10 for Indiana. The Hoosiers are 12-3 overall and 3-2 in the Big Ten. IU plays at Iowa Thursday night.

The Jacksonville Jaguars stunned the Indianapolis Colts 26-11 Sunday in the regular season finale. The loss, coupled with Pittsburgh’s win, knocked the Colts out of the playoffs. Indianapolis fell behind 26-3 and had multiple missed opportunities on both sides of the ball, including three failed fourth down conversions and a pair of turnovers from quarterback Carson Wentz. Jonathan Taylor was held to 77 yards, and Wentz was sacked six times. Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence looked like the number one overall pick. The rookie out of Clemson completed 23-of-32 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns. The Colts have not won in Jacksonville since 2014, and entered the game as 14-point favorites. Indy’s season ends at 9-8 on a two-game losing streak. Jacksonville snapped an eight-game losing streak and finished the season 3-15.
