The Mike Woodson era begins in Bloomington Tuesday night when Indiana basketball hosts Eastern Michigan in the season opener. The former IU standout will look to get the Hoosiers back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2016. Indiana went 12-15 last year and ended the season on a six-game losing streak before firing coach Archie Miller. IU brings back All-American forward Trayce Jackson-Davis in Woodson’s first season as a college coach. The Hoosiers and Eagles tipoff at 6:00 p.m. Eastern on BTN at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, and IU is favored by 24 points. The highly-anticipated Purdue basketball season opens Tuesday night at Mackey Arena when the Boilermakers host Bellarmine. The Boilers are ranked seventh in the preseason poll entering coach Matt Painter’s 17th season in West Lafayette. Purdue returns its top eight scorers from last year’s team that went 18-10 and earned a number four seed in the NCAA Tournament before a first round loss to North Texas. The Knights went 14-8 in their first season as a Division 1 program. Purdue and Bellarmine tip off at 7:00 p.m. Eastern at Mackey Arena.

Colts coach Frank Reich gave a variety of personnel updates Monday as Indy begins preparations for division rival Jacksonville. Right tackle Braden Smith is dealing with an elbow injury that the team originally thought was a triceps injury. Wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is still in concussion protocol after suffering an injury late in last month’s loss to the Titans. Reich said he hoped Hilton could get back on the practice field this week. Hilton missed Indy’s win over the Jets, and has played in just two games this season due a variety of injuries. Cornerback Xavier Rhodes is day-to-day with a calf injury. Reich added the Colts have not discussed releasing running back Marlon Mack, who was a healthy scratch last Thursday against New York. The Colts are 4-5 and host the 2-6 Jaguars Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium. Indianapolis is favored by 10.5 points over Jacksonville.
