Ferdinand Man in Custody Following Chase

A Dubois County man was arrested on Friday after attempting to evade police.
Around midnight, officers were dispatched to an address in Dubois about a disturbance between an estranged married couple.
Before Deputies arrived, the original caller stated that a 44-year-old Aaron Messmer, of Ferdinand, had left the residence.
Officers later stopped Messmer who was found to have a suspended license. Police say he then ignored commands to exit the vehicle and took off at a high rate of speed. This resulted in one officer falling to the ground and suffering a broken bone in his hand as well as a laceration to his eye.
A short time later, Dubois County dispatch received a call that a male was at an address on CR 375 S and was leaving, heading towards Patoka Road. Deputies then located the vehicle and deployed stop sticks successfully stopping Messmer’s vehicle.
He was then arrested and taken to the Dubois County Jail. Messmer is being held without bond.
The officer was treated as Jasper Memorial Hospital for his injuries.
