The Cincinnati Reds hit two homers in the first inning and held off the Chicago Cubs 4-3 at Wrigley Field. Rookie of the Year candidate Jonathan India led off the game with a home run followed two batters later by a solo shot off the bat of Nick Castellanos. The Reds added two much-needed insurance runs in the top of the eighth, as the Cubs got to within a run on a pair of solo home runs in the bottom of the inning. The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak for Chicago, while Cincinnati looks to continue their winning ways after dropping seven out of nine coming into Tuesday.
In St. Louis, Albert Pujols homered against his former team to beat the Cardinals 7-2. Justin Turner had two home runs and drove in three for the Dodgers, which used nine pitchers in the victory.
The Indianapolis Colts released an unofficial depth chart Tuesday ahead of Sunday’s season opener against the Seahawks. Eric Fisher was listed as the starter at left tackle despite not having participated in a full practice after suffering a torn Achilles in January. Fisher was activated from the NFL’s reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.
