
Due to the high number of illnesses that have affected the Washington football program, the school announced yesterday they are going to pause football practices until Monday. This is for the safety of the student-athletes. At this time, there is no evidence to suggest the illnesses are COVID-19 related. Washington will re-evaluate after school attendance is taken on Monday morning. The game with West Vigo Friday has been cancelled.

After missing Tuesday’s practice with an illness, Colts quarterback Sam Ehlinger returned to the field Wednesday at Grand Park. The rookie out of Texas struggled, and went 12-for-20 on the day after spending most of the practice with the starters. Jacob Eason completed seven of nine passes, and one just one stint with the number one unit. The Colts take on the Vikings Saturday night in Minneapolis in the second of three preseason games. Ehlinger is expected to start and play one half Saturday, and coach Frank Reich said most of the Colts’ starters will see action.
Ian Happ homered for the second straight game, and the Chicago Cubs beat the Cincinnati Reds 7-1 at Great American Ball Park. It is the first time the Cubs have won back-to-back games since July 25th and 26th.The Cubs took control in the second on a two-run bomb off the bat of Michael Hermosillo. In St. Louis, the Brewers scored three runs in the top of the 10th and beat the Cardinals 6-4. Avisail Garcia hit two homers for Milwaukee, including a game-tying shot in the ninth to send the game into extras.
Luis Robert went 3-for-4 with two RBI and the Chicago White Sox defeated the Oakland Athletics 3-2 Wednesday night at Guaranteed Rate Field. The Sox have won three straight over the A’s and will go for the sweep Thursday afternoon. Elsewhere in the division, Shohei Ohtani homered for the league-leading 40th time on the season and pitched eight stellar innings as the Los Angeles Angels beat the Detroit Tigers 3-1. In Minnesota, Jorge Polanco drove in a bases-loaded single in the 11th inning to lift the Twins to an 8-7 walkoff win over Cleveland.
