On Thursday, the state fee was officially waved for lifetime gun permits in Indiana.
While the state fee has been waived, you will still have to pay a local fee and finger printing fees.
A bill was originally introduced that would have done away with carry permits all together, however, it was killed in the Indiana Senate after push back from Indiana State Police among other groups.
Demand for permits is currently skyrocketing.
When some applicants visit the Indiana State Police firearms licensing website, they’re met with a message that says “sorry, please try again later.”
More than 7,000 applications were submitted Thursday, according to WANE-TV.
