Last night the Washington City Council passed an ordinance increasing the petty cash fund for the Utility Department.
They also heard the introduction of ordinances dealing with licensing itinerant salesmen and applying zoning designations to areas in the two-mile limit that had no zoning designation.
In addition, the Council approved a resolution expressing the City’s intent to pursue funds from the State of Indiana’s Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative or “READI” Program.
At the end of the meeting, the Council heard from County Councilman Mike Myers and Daviess County Solid Waste Superintendent Bob Ochs. After more than ten years of no increases, the County Landfill will be raising its tipping fees by $5 per ton and the price of receiving sludge from $2.10 per ton to $15 per ton.
After the meeting, Mayor Rhoads reminded everyone about the upcoming 4th of July Celebration
The Mayor also said he hopes for the Meridian Street intersection on the old 50 project to be open by the first of next week.
