At the girls track sectional at Princeton last night, Gibson Southern claimed the top spot on the day.  Princeton finished second, then South Knox, Barr Reeve and Washington round out the top 5.

Congratulations to Washington’s Jena Roach the sectional champ in the 100 meter hurdles.  She also tied the school record.  She is now off to regionals.  Roach also finished fifth in the long jump, while Elle Knepp from Barr Reeve was third.  Trinity Reel finished 2nd in the 100 meter dash.  Washington’s. 400 meter relay team finished second while Barr Reeve advanced in third place.  Abby Ballengee was third in the 200 meter dash.  Ballengee also finished second in discuss.  Barr Reeve’s 3200 meter relay team was fourth on the day.  In the 400 meter, Abigail Hellums from North Daviess finished fourth.  Helium’s would also finish third on the day in the high jump.  North Daviess 1600 meter relay team grabbed a fourth place finish.  In Pole Vault, Emma Coney from North Daviess finished fifth.  Addie Talbert from Washington Catholic had a good day at shot out with a third place finish.
The Washington baseball team lost a tough one at home last night in a back and forth battle with Gibson Southern falling 13-10.  23 runs and 27 hits were recorded in the slugfest.  The Hatchets drop to 15-10 while The Titans go to 14-11.  Washington will celebrate senior night tomorrow against North Daviess.

The Washington Softball team lost a tough one at home on senior night to Vincennes Lincoln 5-2.  Hatchet seniors Jessica Hart and Ashlyn Edwards were honored before the game yesterday.
The Hatchet Golf team grabbed another win yesterday defeating South Knox, Barr Reeve and Pike Central at the Country Club of Old Vincennes.  Co-medalist were Simon Parsons from Washington and Sam Emmons from Barr Reeve.
The girls tennis sectionals begin tonight, at Jasper it’s Forest Park against Jasper, and Pike Central takes on Southridge.  At Loogootee Barr Reeve takes on Paoli and the Lions face NE Dubois.  In Linton, Linton will meet White River Valley, while North Daviess squares off with Bloomfield.  At Vincennes just one match tonight Washington Catholic will take on Vincennes Lincoln.
The Indiana Pacers defeated the Charlotte Hornets 144-117 in the first Play-In game of the NBA Postseason. Indiana got off to a fast start and had a 24 point lead going into halftime.  The Pacers will now play the Washington Wizards on Thursday for the final Playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Winner take on the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
The first day of practice is in the books as drivers prepare for the 105th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge. 2018 winner Will Power had a great run as he had the fast lap speed of 226.470 MPH. Ryan Hunter-Reay was the second fastest at 226.371 MPH. Takuma Sato rounded out the top 3 at 226.132 MPH. Practice does continue on through Friday with qualifying coming up this weekend. The Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge is set for May 30th.
At the Ballparks, the Giants took another one from the Reds at Great American Ballpark last night 4 to 2.  The series contines tonight at 6:10pm on the General 95.9 / 101.3fm.
The Cardinals beat the Pirates 5 to 2 yesterday

The Cubs were winners over the Nationals 6 to 3.
