Mrs. Catherine Marie (Osmon) Petty, Washington, passed away on the late afternoon of Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital,
just one day short of her 92nd birthday. She was born May 17, 1929 in Washington, Indiana a daughter of the late Walter S. and Berta (Baldwin)Osmon.
Catherine attended Washington High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1947. She played piano for many years at area nursing homes and was a volunteer reader for children. In her leisure time, Catherine enjoyed playing Dominoes and Golden Ten. She also enjoyed being with her friends in the ‘Old Hens’ group. She also enjoyed raising and caring for her flowers and growing vegetables in her garden and which she would spend many hours canning. Catherine dearly loved her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished the time they could spend together. Always in the kitchen, Catherine loved cooking and baking. She was also a long-time member of Bethany Christian Church where she taught Sunday School for several years.
Catherine is survived by her daughters, Darlene Kay (Gary) Dyer, Julie Marie (Mick) Brown and Terri Lea (Patrick) Mauger; her ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren as well as a nephew, Denny Osmon.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband Herman Dale Petty, whom she married April 27, 1949; her son, Larry Dale Petty; her brother, Ralph Osmon; a niece, Marilyn Buchanon and a nephew Steve Osmon.
Funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Gill Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Tom Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery.
The family will receive friends form 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home.
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family has suggested those be offered to the Bethany Christian Church of Washington.
