One Marine’s service has finally ended.

Edgar Harrell, the last surviving Marine of the USS Indianapolis, died Saturday, according to a post on the USS Indianapolis organization’s Facebook page.

Harrell is credited with protecting the key ingredients for the Little Boy atomic bomb, which was later dropped on Hiroshima, Japan in August 1945.

His death comes days after another survivor, James Smith, died on May 5.

There are now only 5 living survivors of the USS Indianapolis.
