Gary Evertt Potts, 65, of Loogootee, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at his residence.
Gary was born July 2, 1955 to Opal (Burton) Miles and the late Lowell Potts. He was a United States Army and National Guard Veteran.
On September 14, 1985 Gary married the love of his life, Annette Dyer, and she survives. They celebrated 35 years of marriage.
He attended Vincennes University and received an associate degree in drafting. Gary visited many states during business trips while employed at Crane. He made many friendships and memories. He retired from Crane after 28 years of employment.
Gary was one of a kind. He was an outdoors, hardworking, family man. He often enjoyed mowing the lawn, maintain a garden, fishing, and camping with his wife.
Gary is survived by his wife and two daughters, Valerie Hughes of Washington, and Natalie Mundy of Vincennes. He also leaves seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, who was his pride and joy. Gary loved spending time with his grandchildren. He never missed a ball game or an important event that involved his grandkids. In addition, Gary had much love for his dog, Bella, who never left his side.
He is also survived by his brothers, Tony Potts of Montgomery, Doug and Peggy Potts of Texas and sister, Linda and Earl Slover, of Monroe City.
Gary enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals in his free time. Gary and Annette always enjoyed spending time with each other and did everything together. They spent many years together on a bowling league where they traveled different places and Gary even bowled a perfect 300! He was a member of the Loogootee United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2021 at Blake & Wagler Funeral Home in Montgomery. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery – Reeve Twp.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 1, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
