The Washington Hatchets faced a short-handed Vincennes Lincoln team with seven players out for Covid quarantine and topped the Alices at the Hatchet House 85-42. The Big Ten men’s basketball tournament scheduled for next month will be moved from Chicago to Indianapolis. The 14-team event will take place March 10th through March 14th and is expected to be played at Lucas Oil Stadium instead of at Chicago’s United Center. The move will make it easier for conference teams that make the NCAA Tournament, which will be played entirely in Indiana. IU coach Archie Miller said Monday he would support a change due to stricter COVID-19 protocols in Illinois that would make it difficult to hold the tournament there.
The Indiana Pacers return home to take on the New Orleans Pelicans Friday night. Indiana suffered a 20-point defeat Wednesday night at division rival Milwaukee and the Pacers trailed by as many as 40 in the loss. The Blue and Gold are 12-10,
Indianapolis Colts legend Peyton Manning is expected to officially be selected for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Saturday night in his first year of eligibility. Manning was drafted by the Colts first overall in 1998 and spent 14 seasons in Indianapolis, leading Indy to a victory in Super Bowl 41 and an unprecedented run of success. Manning holds the NFL record for MVPs with five, and also holds the single season records for passing yards and touchdowns. Former Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne is also a finalist, and the inductees will be revealed Saturday.
The Los Angeles Angels acquired veteran outfielder Dexter Fowler from the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday night for cash or a player to be named later. Fowler batted .233 with four homers and 15 RBIs in 23 games last season, his fourth with St. Louis. The switch-hitting former Rockies and Cubs slugger is a career .259 hitter with 127 homers and 561 RBIs.
