Indiana could not sustain momentum from its best win of the season and lost to Rutgers 74-70 Sunday at Assembly Hall. The Hoosiers looked to build on Thursday’s win at fourth-ranked Iowa but fell flat against the Scarlet Knights. Armaan Franklin led IU with 14 points, while leading scorer Trayce Jackson-Davis was limited to 13 points and seven rebounds. IU is 9-7 overall and 4-5 in the Big Ten, and the Hoosiers are not scheduled to play again until Tuesday, February 2nd. Next weekend’s game at Michigan has been postponed due to Michigan’s entire athletic department shutting down for at least two weeks due to COVID-19.
Prentiss Hubb scored 19 points and led Notre Dame to a 73-59 win at Miami Sunday night.
The Toronto Raptors made key stops down the stretch and beat the Indiana Pacers 107-102 Sunday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
After last weekend’s playoff win against the Cleveland Browns, Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to a 38-24 victory over Buffalo and a berth in the Super Bowl against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Tom Brady has a new team, in a new town. The destination is the same: another Super Bowl.  At home, too.  The man with six NFL titles will become the first quarterback to play a Super Bowl on his team’s home field. He owes the Tampa Bay defense that sacked Aaron Rodgers five times, and a curious late call on fourth-and-goal by the Packers as Brady and the Bucs beat top-seeded Green Bay 31-26 for the NFC title Sunday.

The Super Bowl will be preceded by almost none of the usual pregame hype. To ensure compliance with COVID-19 protocols, the NFL is requiring the Chiefs to remain at their home facility until no earlier than two days before the game. (The Buccaneers will already be at home, of course.) That means there will be no media day, no daily swarming of team hotels and no conventional parties.  Regardless, this will be a super-size game featuring the quarterback who has won more Super Bowls than any other player in history (Brady, six) and his possible successor (Mahomes, seeking his second at age 25).  The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will become the first team to compete for a Super Bowl title in its home stadium. Super Bowl LV will be played on Feb. 7 at the Buccaneers’ Raymond James Stadium, a date the NFL awarded years before quarterback Tom Brady decided to leave the New England Patriots and make a couple more runs at a championship in Tampa.
