The Washington School Board met last night for their regular scheduled meeting. Business Manager, Carrie Alford, gave an overview presentation explaining school finance and how it translates to Washington Community Schools. She provided information on fund categories and the current financial situation of Washington Community Schools.
The board also accepted the resignations of Nancy Miller at North Elementary and High School Boys Track Assistant Coach Megan Riley. In addition the board appointed Whitney Albrecht as North Elementary School Secretary, Anthony Spinner as the new High School Boys Track Assistant Coach, and McKenzie Norton as the new High School Girls Track Assistant Coach
In new business the board heard from Sodexo who gave a presentation highlighting the last 5 years of their partnership with Washington Community Schools. The presentation included Employee retention, key projects, skilled labor, community service, safety, re-opening processes, and more. They also proposed an investment in Washington Community schools to include vehicles, parking lot repairs, and a UVC installation in the HVAC equipment in all WCS. Following the board presentation, the board voted to extend the contract with Sodexo for an additional five years beginning July 1, 2021.
