The Indianapolis Colts need a new quarterback for next season after Philip Rivers announced his retirement from the NFL after 17 seasons. He spent his first 16 seasons with the Chargers before signing with the Colts for the 2020 season. The 39-year-old led Indy to an 11-5 record and a playoff berth, and will now become the high school football coach in St. Michael Catholic High School in Fairhope, Alabama. Colts general manager Chris Ballard is now tasked with finding a new starting quarterback. If Indianapolis does not re-sign Jacoby Brissett, then coach Frank Reich will have had four starting quarterbacks in four seasons.
The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Indiana Pacers 124-112 Wednesday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Pacers defense struggled without center Myles Turner, who missed his second straight game with a fracture in his hand.

Indiana plays its first game in a week Thursday night when the Hoosiers play at fourth-ranked Iowa. The senior big man leads the nation with 26.9 points per game to go with 8.7 rebounds. The Hoosiers are 8-6 and are coming off a home loss to Purdue on Thursday. IU is led by Trayce Jackson-Davis, who is averaging 20.4 points and 8.9 rebounds. The Hawkeyes are favored by 10 points for Thursday’s 9 p.m. tipoff from Iowa City.
