Genevieve Byrer

Genevieve “Sue” Byrer, 83 of Odon, went to her Heavenly home on January 4, 2021 with her family at her side.
Sue was born in Washington, IN, October 18, 1937, daughter to the late Sam Reynolds and Lucy (Underhill) Reynolds.
Sue attended Plainville High School and was a member of Plainville United Methodist Church. She was employed as a cook at Ketcham Nursing Home and then later North Daviess Elementary Schools. Sue was a devoted Christian mother, and grandmother who put her family before all else.
Sue married Virgil Byrer on July 11, 1952 and the following surviving children were born to them:
Daughters, Jerra Lynn Callison Sims (Steve) of Plainville, Kimberly Sue Hill (Kenny) of Odon, and Lisa Renee Ritter (Ron) of Odon; sons, Richard Douglas Byrer (Donna) of Dale, and Kevin DeWayne Byrer (Lori) of Odon. Virgil passed away on July 9, 1997.
Sue also helped raise her grandson Kelly Duane Byrer (Tina).
Surviving grandchildren are: Stephanie Killion , Angie Johns, Kelly Byrer, Erica Morin, Stacy Simmons, Samantha Byrer, Natalie Pelfree, Brandon Callison, Lindsey Ritter, Amy Byrer, Ryan Ritter, and Josh Hill.
Also surviving are:35 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; and sister, Wilma Mallette of Niceville, FL.
Sue was preceded in death by; son-in-law, Larry Callison; granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Byrer; great-grandson, Kevin Landry Morin; sisters, Ruby Chestnut, Ruth Shake, Marjorie Bedeker, Wanda Joyce Schnell, Mary Vaughn, and Edith Thomas; brothers, Samuel Reynolds, and Loren Reynolds.
There will be a visitation on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Gill Funeral Home with a service immediately following officiated by Pastor Steve Sims at 1:00 P.M. also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Plainville Cemetery. Due to covid and limited numbers of visitors the funeral will be available to be viewed online on Gill Funeral Service Facebook.
