Malcolm Brogdon scored a career-high 35 points and the Indiana Pacers defeated the Houston Rockets 114-107 Wednesday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Indiana improved to 6-2 behind Brogdon’s career-best performance, and got eight blocks from Myles Turner.
Butler scored the final 10 points to beat Georgetown 63-55 Wednesday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Bulldogs held the Hoyas to 24 percent shooting in the second half and overcame a seven-point halftime deficit.
Indiana begins a two-game road trip tonight when the Hoosiers take on eighth-ranked Wisconsin in Madison. IU is 7-4 overall and 2-2 in the Big Ten after grinding out a home win over Maryland Monday. Wisconsin is 9-2 with a 3-1 conference record, and the experienced Badgers have a starting lineup that is older in average age than the NBA’s Chicago Bulls. Indiana has not won at the Kohl Center since 1998, and is an eight point underdog. The Hoosiers will not return home before a Sunday contest at Nebraska. Tipoff between IU and Wisconsin is at 7 p.m. Eastern
Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book announced on social media that he will not be returning to the Fighting Irish and will enter the 2021 NFL Draft. The senior could have returned to South Bend this fall because the NCAA is not counting the 2020 season towards eligibility due to the pandemic. Book said in part “My teammates and I will always be connected by the bond that comes with wearing the gold helmet. Thank you, Notre Dame!” He leaves college as Notre Dame’s winningest quarterback with a 30-5 record. Book threw for 15 touchdowns and three interceptions this season as the Irish reached the College Football Playoff semifinal and finished with a 10-2 record.
