Vincennes Police officers went above and beyond yesterday after responding to the theft of a bicycle. Day-shift officers learned that the bike was taken from the back porch of a residence where the bike was locked. The suspect(s) had cut the bike lock and taken the bike from the residence. While investigating the theft, officers learned that this bike was the main Christmas gift for a juvenile female. Officers took the report but wanted to do a little something extra. They went to Walmart where they planned to purchase a new bike for the girl. When Walmart heard of this, they wanted to help and donated the bike. Officers were then able to surprise the girl with her new wheels. The Vincennes Police Department thanked the Vincennes Walmart for the donation on their social media page.
