Indiana senators want a state-appointed board oversee Indianapolis PD

Two Indiana senators want to see a state-appointed board oversee the capitol city’s police department. Senators Jack Sandlin of Indianapolis and Scott Baldwin of Noblesville filed a bill to create a five-member board, consisting of Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett and four members appointed by Governor Eric Holcomb, to oversee the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. If the bill is passed, the board would begin overseeing the department in January of 2023.
