The Barr Reeve Vikings split a pair of games at the Hall of Fame Classic yesterday in New Castle. In game one, the Vikings fell to Ft Wayne Blackhawk in overtime 75-66. In the consolation game, Barr Reeve cruised to a big win over Blackford 71-46. The Vikings now 7-2 will play Washington at the Hatchet House Saturday night. Tip off at 7:30pm.
Vincennes Lincoln notched their first win of the season topping Borden yesterday 62-50. The Alice’s are now 1-6.
North Knox beat NE Dubois 49-33
In girls basketball, the Washington Lady Hatchets picked up another big conference win on the road defeating North Posey 66-31. The Lady Hatchets are now 7-1 and play at the Plainfield tournament Saturday morning. First game tips off at 10am.

Rob Phinisee scored a turnaround, stepback jumper with 12 seconds left in overtime and Indiana held off Penn State 87-85 Wednesday night at Assembly Hall. Trayce Jackson-Davis scored 21 points to lead IU, while Phinisee added 11. The Hoosiers improved to 6-4 overall and 1-2 in the Big Ten. Penn State did not hit a field goal in the final 4:56 of overtime. The Hoosiers are off until Monday when they host Maryland.

Providence dominated in the first half and cruised to a 71-55 win over Butler Wednesday evening in Rhode Island.
Indiana cornerback Tiawan (Ty-wan) Mullen was named a first-team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America Wednesday. The sophomore became the first Hoosiers cornerback to earn first-team honors and the first All-American cornerback since Tim Wilbur was a second-teamer in 1980. The last IU player to be a first-team All-American was guard Dan Feeney in 2015 and 2016.
Long-time Indiana Pacers executive Donnie Walsh has retired. The 79-year-old joined the team as the general manager in 1986 and was promoted to president two years later, a role he held until 2008. After a stint with the Knicks, he returned to the Pacers as president in 2012 before becoming a consultant in 2013. Walsh said the game is a young man’s sport, and retiring gives him an opportunity to spend time with family.
