On Wednesday, the Indiana Department of Health reported 4,819 new cases of coronavirus across the state. That brings the state’s total number of positive cases to 505,017. The department also reported 109 new deaths, bringing the total number of Hoosiers who’ve died due to the virus to 7,812. So far, over 5.6-million Hoosiers have been tested for COVID-19. Indiana’s overall positivity rate sits at 10.5-percent, while the seven-day positivity rate is at 13.7-percent. On Wednesday, Governor Eric Holcomb said hospitals across the state can resume non-emergency surgeries, since coronavirus hospitalizations are low enough for a safe return to work.
