Indiana State Police are warning people of another scam. A Posey County man was recently the victim of a scam that nearly cost him $12,000. He was contacted by phone and told that his son had been involved in a very serious crash in Massachusetts that severely injured a pregnant woman. He was told his son was facing serious charges and that he should send $100 bills inside a magazine via FedEx to a house is Massachusetts for his release. After the father sent the package he heard from his son who was in Posey County. Police were able to return the package to the victim. Indiana State Police say to remember that police or jail officials will not call you and ask that you or someone else send money to get a person released from jail. They also encourage residents to attempt to contact the person who is allegedly in jail. This incident is still being investigated.
