The final week of the year brings several holiday tournaments for area high school teams.  The big tournament in the local area kicks off on Tuesday at North Daviess in the Old National Bank Classic.  A couple of new teams enter the field this year.  The boys tournament kicks off tomorrow with Paoli facing Southridge in game one, then Rushville will sqaure off with Loogootee, Rock Creek Academy plays Brownstown Central, and the final game in the opening night will have South Knox against the host North Daviess Cougars.  The Old National Bank Classic will resume on Friday and Saturday.
The Barr Reeve Viking Boys will play in the prestigiuous Hall of Fame Classic at New Castle on Wednesday.  The field will open play with Blackford playing Shenandoah at 11am, Fort Wayne Blackhawk will play Barr Reeve at 12:45pm.  The 3rd place game will resume at 6pm, and the championship will face off at 7:45pm Wednesday night.  You can hear the Vikings in New Castle Wednesday on the General 95.9fm / 101.3fm / AM 1580.
The Barr Reeve girls will travel to Waldron Indiana for a holiday tournament tomorrow to compete.  The tournament opens at 9am with Indianapolis Herron facing Waldron, then in game two the Barr Reeve Lady Vikigns will meet Blackford at 11am.  The third place game is scheduled for 3pm, and the championship at Waldron will be tomorrow night at 7pm.  You can hear the Lady Vikings at Waldron tomorrow on the General 95.9fm / 101.3fm /AM1580.
And the Washington Lady Hatchets are going to travel to Plainfield on Saturday for the Plainfield Winter Classic.  Washington will open against Plainfield Saturday morning at 10am, then Madison plays Indinapolis Roncolli at 11:30am,  the 3rd place game is set for 4pm, with the championship at 6pm.  We will have both games from Plainfield live Saturday on Memories 107.9fm.
Tonight, the Washington Hatchet Boys are on the road at Evansville Bosse to face the Bulldogs.  Live coverage starts at 7:15pm on Memories 107.9fm. Don’t forget, the Washington vs Barr Reeve boys game will now be made up on Saturday night at the Hatchet House.  Tip off is set for 7:30pm Saturday on Memories 107.9fm and the General 95.9fm /101.3 / AM 1580.
The Indianapolis Colts collapsed in the second half and lost 28-24 to the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday. Indianapolis had a 24-7 lead before falling apart, and now must get help in the season’s final week to make it into the playoffs. The Colts must beat the 1-14 Jacksonville Jaguars next Sunday, and also have to get a loss from either the Dolphins, Ravens, Browns or Titans.
The Chicago Bears defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 41-17 Sunday in Jacksonville to inch closer to a playoff berth in the NFC. Chicago lost six straight games earlier this season, but has bounced back to win three in a row to enter the final week of the season 8-7. The Bears can make the playoffs for the second time in three years with a win over Green Bay next Sunday at Soldier Field.
Domantas Sabonis scored a go-ahead layup with 8.4 seconds to go to give the Indiana Pacers a one-point lead, and Jayson Tatum missed a three at the buzzer as the Pacers held on to defeat the Boston Celtics 108-107 Sunday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
