The Daviess County Board of Commissioners recognized several people on Tuesday for their service to the county. The commissioners passed a motion to sign the retirement letter of a long time county employee. Alice Simmons is retiring as the Daviess County Chief Court Reporter. She has served the county for 45 years. The board recognized Alice and all the work she has done for the county in her many years of service.
The commissioners presented a plaque to Daviess County Treasurer Elaine Wellman who is also retiring. The board thanked her for all her time and effort. The board also presented a plaque to Commissioner Tom McCracken who will be succeeded by Ron Arnold in January. Commissioner Micheal Taylor and Commissioner Nathan Gabhart thanked McCracken for all his hard work and attention to detail. In addition, they recognized his 30 plus years of service to the county.
