Indiana State Police arrested a Washington man on Saturday after a struggle. Police were searching for 27-year-old Thomas Hughey of Washington who was charged with violating a protection order. They arrived at Hughey’s parent’s residence where Hughey resided in an RV. Hughey’s mother unlocked the RV, but Hughey then barricaded himself in the small bathroom. He refused the troopers orders to come out. One trooper deployed a chemical agent into the bathroom, however, the attempt to get Hughey out was unsuccessful. One of the troopers was finally able to get the door open not long after. Hughy had been holding it shut. The troopers struggled to get Hughy cuffed, but eventually succeeded. Thomas Hughey sustained minor injuries that were treated at DCH. He was then transported to the Daviess County Security Center.
