Austin Owen O’Connor, 66 of Loogootee, was called home at 9:33 a.m. Friday, December 4, 2020 at Loogootee Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on May 19, 1954 to the late Ernest Joseph and Rose Mary (Smith) O’Connor. He was a 1972 graduate of Barr Reeve High School. He married Charlotte Wathen on Sept 29, 1975.
Austin was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church – Barr Township. He was a 10 year veteran of the US Army and a 6 year veteran of the Air National Guard. He was a member of the American Legion Post 120 for 46 years and served as Past Commander and Adjutant. Austin was also a member of the VFW Post 9593, and the Disabled American Veterans.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ernest Joseph O’Connor, his mother, Rose Mary O’Connor, three Brothers, Ronald Lee O’Connor, Philip Stephen O’Connor and Timothy John O’Connor.
Austin is survived by one daughter, Tina Renee (Eugene) O’Connor-Hess and one son, Edward Austin O’Connor (Wife Meghan), four grandchildren, Shelby Annmarie Messex, Myla Dawn Hess, Owen Thomas O’Connor and Jonathan Mineo, all of Lakeland Florida; one sister, Carolyn Rose (O’Connor) Brett; three brothers, Charles Edward O’Connor, Richard Joseph O’Connor, and George Ernest O’Connor, all of Loogootee.
