According to 14 News, a shoplifting incident lead to a high speed chase on Sunday. Police say the suspect was identified as David Fruit who was caught stealing leaf blowers from an Evansville IGA. Fruit lead police on a high speed chase, until the pursuit was called off due to a dangerous high rate of speed. Fruit eventually crashed his vehicle and was picked up in a transport van, from which he was able to escape. Fruit was eventually caught again by police and is now being held in the Vanderburgh County Jail. He is facing several charges; some of which include Shoplifting, Criminal Recklessness, and Resisting law Enforcement.
