The Cannelburg Fire department responded to a report of a house fire Friday afternoon. Upon arrival of the first crews; it was confirmed by the home owner that no one was inside the home. The home itself was fully engulfed in flames. Fire crews battled the fire for hours. An excavator was eventually brought in to push all of the exterior walls into the basement for containment and safety. It was determined that the fire was started on the rear deck, by a hot tub recently installed. The house was determined a total loss. The fire department did note that they were very impressed and humbled by the community efforts to help the home owner. One neighbor provided warm clothing for the homeowner, and the excavator was brought in by Graber post to assist.
