In the end, Paul Casey leads the field at 7 under after posting a bogey-free 65, marking his best opening round score at a major in his career. Behind him, Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas and Webb Simpson sit T2 at 5 under, followed by a lengthy list of names — among them, reigning champion Tiger Woods at 4 under.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Philip Rivers has moved ahead of Hall of Famer Dan Marino on the NFL’s all-time passing list.  Rivers’ first completion, an 11-yard pass to rookie running back Jonathan Taylor against the Tennessee Titans last night, moved him ahead of Marino for fifth in career passing yards.  Rivers entered the game in Nashville, Tennessee, with 61,358 passing yards in his 17-year career, needing just 4 yards to pass Marino. He finished the night 29-for-39 passing for 308 yards, putting him at 61,666 yards for his career. The Colts won 34-17.
Boise State was missing 14 players for its home game against Colorado State on Thursday night because of protocols related to COVID-19, but the Broncos managed to defeat the Rams anyway.  With nine Broncos players testing positive for the virus and another five sidelined for contact tracing, the school still was able to rebound from last week’s 51-17 drubbing by BYU, the worst home loss for Boise State since 1996, to rout Colorado State 52-21.
