The Indiana Hoosiers scored a big recruit yesterday.  IU announced the signing of 6-foot-9 center Logan Duncomb.  The four-star recruit from Archbishop Moeller High in Cincinnati averaged around 15 points and 8 rebounds last season.  He also led his team to a state title.
Maryland‘s football game against No. 3 Ohio State is canceled and will not be rescheduled after the Terps paused all team-related activities on Wednesday because of an elevated number of coronavirus cases within the Terrapins’ program, the school announced on Wednesday.  Over the past seven days, eight Maryland football players have tested positive for COVID-19, according to a news release from the school.  The coronavirus pandemic continues to rattle the college sports landscape, leaving many questions unanswered.  Complex, high-stakes public health issues are being addressed as conferences decide what college sports will look like in the coming year.
Ben Roethlisberger, the quarterback of the unbeaten Pittsburgh Steelers, leads the list of players whose status is in doubt entering Week 10 of the NFL season. The Cincinnati Reds‘ Trevor Bauer won the National League Cy Young Award, giving Cincinnati its first winner of the honor.  Bauer topped fellow finalists Yu Darvish of the Chicago Cubs and Jacob deGrom of the New York Mets in the voting announced by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America on Wednesday.  The Reds had never had a Cy Young winner, making them one of four active MLB teams without a Cy Young winner and the only team founded prior to 1961 without one.  Bauer ended that drought.   Cleveland Indians ace Shane Bieber was the unanimous winner of the AL Cy Young Award on Wednesday, capping an impressive rise by the right-hander to his status as one of the game’s best pitchers.
