The Daviess County Commissioners met for their regular meeting on Tuesday in the new government center. The agenda was full of items to discuss. Phil Cornelius presented claim vouchers to the board for phase 4 and 5 of the 900E project that were approved. The commissioners also heard his summery and recommendations for the 2021 highway bids. The commissioners approved the bids from several area businesses.
During Tuesday morning’s meeting the board approved changes to the County Attorney Contract. The compensation remained the same, however, the clarification of what the compensation was for was updated. In addition, the board approved the 2021 HSA County Contribution and approved a motion to create a resolution to change the way that Cares Act money is distributed.
The commissioners also heard from Scott Schnarr who requested to install storage shelves in the new government center basement and build a new storage shed on the north side of the property. He stated he would like to build more storage facilities in the future, but after discussing the matter, the commissioners agreed it would be better to build one large building now to house all county equipment rather than building several smaller ones over time. The commissioners agreed to move forward with a quote for the larger building and approved the new basement shelving.
In other business, the commissioners reviewed and approved the 2021 county calendar and holiday schedule. No changes were made. The board also approved a Daviess County Casa Grant Application and approved a request from the Daviess County Airport to move forward with the runway extension. In addition, the commissioners agreed to move forward with a project that would upgrade the county’s operating systems and network servers.
