The Washington Hatchets used a dominating performance on a wet sloppy field to move on in the football sectional eliminating Pike Central 50 to nothing.  It was the Hatchets first shut out since 2016 and the first sectional win since 2017.  Washington moves on to face Edgewood on the road next week.  The Mustangs advanced with a 14 to nothing win over Brown County avenging a loss to them last week.  Both Washington and Edgewood come into the semi finals with records of 4 and 6.

Vincennes Lincoln also advanced in the tournament. The Alices beat Owen Valley 21 to 7.  Vincennes will now face Sullivan in the semi finals as the Arrows topped Princeton 53 to 3.  Sullivan is 7 and 3 while the Alices check in at 4 and 6.
North Daviess fell short in their sectional opener losing to a very good West Washington team 55 to 14.  The Cougars end their season at 4 and 5.

Jasper was eliminated from the tournament losing to Evansville Central 30 to 7.
High School Volleyball tournaments move to the regional rounds today.  The Barr Reeve Vikings will be hosting the 2A regional in Montgomery this morning.  The first match will have Barr Reeve playing North Decatur at 11am.  Catch live coverage starting at 10:45am on the General 95.9 / 101.3 / AM 1580.  The second match at Barr Reeve pits Henryville against Tecumseh.  The two winners play for the championship tonight at 7pm.
At Loogootee in the 1A Regional, the host Loogootee Lions meet Springs Valley at 10am, while Rock Creek Academy plays Trinity Lutheran at noon.
And finally, good luck to the Cross Country runners competing today at the Brown County Semi State.  Several local runners advanced as well as the Barr Reeve girls team and the South Knox boys and girls teams.  The semi state gets underway at 11:30am this morning.
