Hugh Odell McLemore

Hugh Odell McLemore, 96, of Washington, passed away on Tuesday, October 13th, 2020 at Hillside Manor with family by his side. Hugh was born April 20th, 1924, in Washington, Indiana, to Bradford and Augusta (Davisson) McLemore. He attended Washington Community Schools and was a member of First Baptist Church. Hugh was a US Army veteran, serving during WWII, 1943-1946 with an Honorable Discharge. Hugh worked for the B&O Railroad and US Railway.
Hugh married Phyllis Madden on November 26th, 1949 and she preceded him in death on July 31st, 1987. Also preceding him in death was his daughter, Cathy (Robert) Gould on May 10th, 2013; Hugh was the last surviving of his siblings: Theodore (Mary) McLemore, Delbert (Evelyn) McLemore, Robert (Sis) McLemore, Donald (Vera) McLemore, Marietta (Elvin) Vandever, Patricia (Don) Fields and Richard (Janet) McLemore.
Hugh is survived by his two sons, Michael P. (Diana) McLemore and Christopher H. McLemore; his two grandchildren Mindy (Ryan) Kenworthy of Washington and Cory McLemore of Fayetteville, GA; his three great-grandchildren Lauren, Emma and Jacob Kenworthy. He is also survived by his son-in-law C.Robert Gould and his family, Mindy (Kurt) Shetter and Todd (Melissa) Gould and Nathan Gould; also several nieces and nephews.
Hugh enjoyed spending time with his family & friends. Hugh was an avid fisherman and hunter. Hugh’s hobbies included collecting coins, stamps, arrowheads, and older guns. Hugh was a loyal Chicago Cubs and Washington Hatchets fan.
Visitation will be at Gill Funeral Home on Monday, October 19th, 2020 from 11am-1pm with the service immediately following at 1:00 pm with Pastor Tim Baxter Officiating. Burial will follow at Sugarland Memory Gardens.
