Fire crews responded to a fire on West Van Trees Tuesday Afternoon

Authorities responded to a house fire at 302 West VanTrees Street Tuesday afternoon around 5pm.  Firemen were able to get the fire under control, however lots of damage was reported inside the home.  No one was in the home at the time of the blaze. According to the Washington Times Herald it was discovered that a child was trying to light a candle with a piece of paper, when he dropped the paper which started fire. The house that caught fire was owned by Shawn and Erin Purdue.  They were not in the home at the time of the blaze, but they lost everything.  A go fund me page has been set up for the family.A link is available on our Facebook page
