World Famous WWII plane built in Evansville is flying back Thursday

A world-famous plane built in Evansville during World War II is returning home. The P-47 Thunderbolt, Tarheel Hal, was accepted by the Army Air Corps in 1945. It is flying back to Evansville on Thursday afternoon. WFIE says it will remain at the Evansville Wartime Museum, as the Evansville P-47 Foundation continues fundraising efforts to keep the plane in southwest Indiana permanently.
