The city of Evansville will not be defending its police department. The city council last night voted down a plan to shift 250-thousand-dollars from the police department to Evansville’s affordable housing program. City council members say they would like to be able to pay for every want and wish in the city, but they said last night that the economic reality of Evansville makes that impossible.
