After an unexpectedly uneventful Fall….the COVID-19 pandemic is starting to affect area and Pocket Athletic Conference athletics.   Boonville High School has announced it is cancelling the schools next two football games due to a Boonville player testing positive for COVID-19.

School officials say the PAC conference contest with Princeton this Friday, and their game at South Spencer on October 9 are both canceled.   Boonville’s JV games will also be canceled for those two weeks.

Boonville officials state their season will resume on October 16 at Gibson Southern.

Boonville played Mt. Vernon last Friday and officials say the positive Boonville athlete played in that game.    According to a post on Mt. Vernon High School’s official Facebook page, contact tracing is happening on their football team as well.

The pandemic has also affected other schools.   During the past week, North Posey and Princeton have both announced a move to on-line learning, and Cannelton has closed the school until next week.
