Eastside Park Lakes set to be restocked in late October

unnamed-1

Monday evening, Mayor Dave Rhoads reported on the fish kill at Baumert Lake in Eastside Park.  The DNR report confirmed the problem was caused by a phenomenon called “lake turnover” which was made worse by this years temperatures and low water levels. Many fish were lost, but Kip Kelley with the Washington Parks and Recreation Department said they were able to save several by transporting them to the upper lake. DNR will be restocking both lakes sometime in late October. Officials and citizens spent many hours cleaning up the fish, however, they are unable do much about the smell. Officials say it will eventually go away and they thank the public for their patience.
