The Washington Girls Soccer team and Vincennes Rivet played 80 minutes of hard nosed soccer with a scoreless outcome on senior night last night at the Sports Complex. Washington had several shots on goal throughout the night but was just not able to punch one in. The Lady Hatchets record is now 3-0-1.

The Washington Hatchet 8th grade football team came out with a big 36-0 win over Pike Central last night at Hatchet Hollow.
High School Football under the Friday night lights tonight, the Washington Hatchets are on the road to Crawford County to face the Wolfpack. Crawford County also has a new football coach this year Tony Bell, and this will be their first game of the season. Washington comes in at 0 and 1 after falling to Boonville last week. The Indianapolis Colts canceled practice Thursday, and the team said in a tweet it instead chose to “use the day to discuss and work toward making a lasting social impact and inspiring change in our communities.” Multiple NFL teams also did not practice Thursday, as athletes nationwide continue to respond to the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Three more NBA playoff games were postponed Thursday as players continue to sit out in protest of the Jacob Blake shooting in Wisconsin. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the players have decided to continue with the playoffs, and games are expected to resume Saturday. The NBA said in a statement the league is hopeful to resume games either Friday or Saturday. The Milwaukee Bucks were the first team to refuse to play Wednesday, starting a wave of postponements across multiple sports.
The NTT IndyCar Series heads to Worldwide Technology Raceway just outside of St. Louis for a weekend doubleheader as the season continues after last week’s Indianapolis 500. The 1.25 mile oval formerly known as Gateway will hold a 200-lap race both Saturday and Sunday afternoon. A limited number of fans will be allowed to attend. Takuma Sato won his second Indy 500 last Sunday as he pulled away from Scott Dixon before a late race crash ended the race under a yellow flag. Sato is the defending champ at WWT Raceway after holding off Ed Carpenter in a battle to the finish last August.
