An Indianapolis man was arrested in Knox County Friday night. Late Friday evening, Indiana State Police stopped the driver of a 1998 Toyota for having an expired license plate. The driver pulled into a gas station near 6th Street and Executive Blvd. As the trooper approached the vehicle the driver accelerated west on Executive Blvd and then onto various city streets. The driver disregarded multiple stop signs, drove left of center and drove the wrong way on a one-way city street. The vehicle was finally disabled after the driver struck a metal pole in an alley near First Street and Eberwine. The driver and a female passenger immediately exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The driver was apprehended near Eberwine Street and Chestnut Street without further incident. The female has not been located. The driver was identified as 23 year old Clinton Meadows of Indianapolis. Meadows displayed signs of impairment and further investigation revealed he was allegedly under the influence of methamphetamine and marijuana. Meadows was taken to the Knox County Jail where he is currently being held on bond.
He is being charged with:
- Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Class 6 Felony
- Resisting Law Enforcement, Class A Misdemeanor
- Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, Class C Misdemeanor
- Reckless Driving
- Criminal Recklessness
- Leaving the Scene of a Crash
