Gibson County woman who faked abduction faces charges

A Gibson County woman is facing charges of false informing. 23 year old Hannah Potts claimed in a Facebook video she had been kidnapped by a black man and was being held against her will. This turned out to be a hoax.

She was found safe at at her friends house on Sunday after police had spent the weekend searching for her. She told police she faked her abduction for a manuscript she is writing. She also told police she had had been planning this for at least a week and even spent time rehearsing the video.

34 year old Maria Hopper and 45 year old Joshua Thomas were also charged with false informing. Both allegedly helped Hannah Potts pull off the hoax. No arrests have been made at this time.
