Roberta Evelyn Fitzgerald, 84, passed away at 8:30 pm on June 28, 2020 at The Villas at Oak Ridge. Roberta was born on August 2, 1935 in Pike County the daughter of Roy and Arietta Olive (Shoaf) Dayton. She married Burke Hayes Fitzgerald on February 5, 1955 and he survives.
Roberta was a 1953 graduate of Winslow High School and had been a Lab Aid and Secretary at Daviess Community Hospital. She later worked in Dr. Davis’ office and was a member of Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi and Cumback Homemakers Club.
Survivors include her husband, Burke H. Fitzgerald of Washington, IN; daughter, Kathy Fitzgerald of Washington, IN; sons, Joseph Fitzgerald and his wife Debra of Washington, IN, Stephen Fitzgerald Washington, IN; brother, Michael Roy Dayton of Washington, her grandchildren, Sarah Fitzgerald, Brian Fitzgerald, Karen Hill, Kimberly Emmons; great- grandchildren, Kayleigh Maddox, Cameron Lancaster, Connor Blair and Makenzie Blair. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Emery Dayton.
Friends may visit with Roberta’s family on Thursday, July 2, 2020 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State Street, Washington, IN. Graveside services will take place at 2:15 pm at East Union Cemetery with Pastor Phillip Richardson officiating.
