United Way of Daviess recently announced six additional agencies being awarded funds from their COVID-19 Relief Fund. Donations from individuals and businesses provided the funds to allow for several grants including:
- $500 – Senior & Family Services to help provide groceries, face masks, and other essential items to seniors in the Odon area.
- $1,000 – Youth First to help with increased costs related to the pandemic while also providing mental health care to at least 177 students in the area.
- $700 – Generations has been awarded to provide essential items, such as cleaning and hygiene products, to around 50 home-bound clients in Daviess County.
- $1,000 – Salvation Army to assist Daviess County residents, who have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, with rent and utility bill payments.
- $500 – Feed My Sheep of Daviess County has been awarded for personal protective equipment (masks, gloves, and cleaning supplies) to protect their frontline volunteers.
- $1,000 – Veale Elementary School to provide around 180 students with educational materials in order to continue school from home.
United Way of Daviess County has already awarded COVID-19 Relief funding to the RSVP Volunteer Center of $575 towards groceries for seniors, and Four Rivers/DSI for $1,000 to make and distribute face masks in the community businesses. Altogether, United Way of Daviess County has provided almost $6,500 to agencies serving clients in need, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
