Cara Veale named new CEO of Indiana Rural Health

A Daviess Community Hospital senior administrator has been selected as the new CEO of the Indiana Rural Health Association.
Cara Veale is currently the Vice President of Provider Services at DCH. She has been tapped to replace Washington resident Don Kelso, the present CEO of IRHA who is retiring at the end of July. Kelso also went to IRHA from Daviess Community Hospital over a decade ago.
Mark Vonderheit, IRHA Board President, said that Veale hit all of the marks they were looking for in a new executive leader.  She holds a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy and a Doctorate in Health Sciences from the University of Indianapolis.  Vonderheit said Veale has deep experience in working for rural hospitals.  She’s been at DCH in her current position since 2007.  Veale will start on July 6 and work together with Kelso to transition the position through the end of July.
The Indiana Rural Health Association was organized in 1997 and is a nonprofit organization working to enhance the health and well-being of rural populations in Indiana through leadership, education, advocacy, collaboration, and resource development.
