Local police logs indicate law enforcement from three counties were involved in a chase early Sunday morning.
Washington Police reported an attempted stop on a south bound vehicle on Edwardsport Road. The vehicle was a black pick up which did not stop and continued passed the Sports Complex near Front Street and Apraw Road; blew through a stop sign at Front near Longfellow Drive; was swerving all over the roadway at Front and Maxwell and speeding on west bound on West Walnut eventually leading the officer to US 50 and at one point tried to run a patrolman’s vehicle from the road. The truck continued into Knox County passed Wheatland at speeds of about 80mph. The chase continues on 50 into Illinois. The vehicle’s tires were flatted by stop sticks near the Lawrenceville, Illinois airport. The driver stopped and eluded police on foot into some nearby woods. The vehicle was impounded and the investigation continues.
